A psychological analysis of the movie Under the Smokey Roof (2017) based on the family therapy theories

Movies are considered an effective educational resource for students, especially those who study Psychology. The purpose of this study is to analyze the movie "Under the Smokey Roof" directed by Pouran Derakhshandeh, based on the family therapy theories. This movie shows the story of a family struggling with different social and psychological issues. In this article, a descriptive-analytical method has been applied. in order to gather the required information for the study, the plot and dialogues have been examined in detail. In this study, the problems of the mentioned family were investigated based on four family therapy theories, named Bowen Family Systems Theory, Structural Family Therapy, Cognitive-Behavioral Family Therapy, and Strategic Family Therapy. Finally, the treatment proposed by each approach is also presented in an attempt to tackle the problems of this family.
